Subaru Meet, Sprucefield, 26-2-06
The latest manufacturer meet, involved Subaru’s and was held at Sprucefield on the outskirts of Lisburn, a
good midway meeting point for both north and south car enthusiasts of the Subaru Marque. The day was dry but bitterly cold with those setting off
early having to also deal with a touch of frost that morning. Never the less the owners of these fine cars turned out in force with the a group of
Southern drivers turning up first at Sprucefield in a convoy of around 10 cars. The first port of call seemed to be McDonald’s for some well-earned
lunch after the long drive from as far away as Dublin and even one driver who had made the trip all the way from Wexford.
The Northern guys also turned out in force led by the OMA tuning lads with 3 nicely cleaned and polished machines, one of which was none other than
Neil Sinclairs which won last years Quickshift drag racing event which was held at St Angelo’s airport in Enniskillen. As you’d expect with a car as
highly tuned as that in attendance everyone made their way over for a closer inspection once the bonnet was lifted.
Throughout the day many more Subaru’s turned up, mostly Impreza’s but also some Legacy’s made the trip along to show that there was more to the Subaru
name than just the Impreza. The police turned up for a while but seemed happy enough to keep their distance and let the people show off there
performance cars.
All in all it was yet another successful, well turned out meeting, and hopefully it won’t be too long before the next meet from this group.
